This tutorial will show you how to create those cool glassy text effects you see all over the place in photoimpact.
If you're not familiar with the tools, head over to the basic section.
This is the outcome of this short tutorial.

1) Create a new document 200x200
2) Using the "Text tool" type in a word or two, I used the word "glassy effect"
3) Use a bright colour for the text. In this case I used the colour HEX #FBFF00
4) Add a black border with 5 width "Border Tool"
It should look like this now.

The glassy text effect
There are two ways to do it. One easy and one hard. The hard way would be to duplicate the text then edit the text path and deleting the bottom points of the text. But we won't be doing it that way in this tutorial. The easiest method would be to duplicate the text change all the colours to white convert it into an image and using the erasing tool erase the bottom part of the text.
5) Duplicate the text by clicking on the text and then Shift+D
6) Now change the colours of the duplicated text and border to white
7) Convert the white text to an image by selecting the white text then clicking on the right mouse button> Convert object type >From Text/Path to Image.
8) Click on the Object Paint Eraser tool make sure the settings in the Attribute bar are as follow

9) Now erase half of the bottom part of the text with the eraser. Since it's 300 it should be big enough to do it with one click; see the examples below.

10) Now go to the pick tool and in the Attribute bar put in 73 for the Object Transparency.

done!
