need help getting rid of an extracted object on a base image

I have a base image that I have pasted many extracted objects into. When I save the picture and come back to it later, I cannot re-select a particular extracted image to delete it. How do you do this?

Don't safe new image in JPEG

Don't safe new image in JPEG file!
Safe in UFO file. In UFO file you can
re-select and delete anything.
In JPEG file safe ONLY conclusive picture.

if you save your work other than .UFO file it won't be editable anymore
